Therapeutic Properties: Recommended for arthritis, colitis, diarrhea, headache, hypertension, irritable bowel syndrome, menopause, psoriasis, rheumatism, nervous tension, toothache, sciatica, menstrual pain. Valerian has been used for hysterical conditions, hyperexcitability, insomnia, migraine, cramps, intestinal colic, rheumatic pain, dysmenorrhea, nervous conditions. Its main uses are for sedative and hypnotic reasons, while it is also used as an antispasmodic and sedative. It is also recommended for anxiety and neurological sleep disorders. Valerian is used as a sedative even during the day in cases of tension.

The dried root should be taken in an amount not exceeding 10gr. daily. Therapists recommend preparing an infusion of 2-3gr three times a day for cases of nervous disorders or one cup (2-3gr) approximately one hour before sleep in cases of insomnia.
