Tilio and its beneficial properties 

Sedative, relaxing

Combats stress and anxiety. It can act as a mild hypnotic in neurasthenic, hysterical, and hypochondriac patients.

Antispasmodic

Relieves headaches, colds, coughs, and runny noses. It helps with migraines and nervous vomiting.

Sudorific (promoting sweating)

Acts as a mild antipyretic.

Diuretic

Dissolves uric acid and is used for arthritis, rheumatism, and gout. It has good results against the uric acid of diabetics.

Other actions

It is useful against edema, cystitis, constipation, indigestion, splenic and hepatic obstruction. It is believed to contribute to the dissolution of kidney stones. Combats abdominal gas. Used for sciatica and lumbago.

External use

A decoction of it smoothes facial wrinkles and freckles. Rinsing hair with it tones and helps with its growth. A bath with the decoction helps with childhood cramps and fatigue.

Are there side effects?

• Tilio has diuretic properties and may increase the risk of dehydration in patients already taking diuretic medication.
• Tilio may increase the concentration of lithium (Li) in the blood.

How can we incorporate it into our diet?

• As an infusion, it combines perfectly with chamomile and lemon balm.
• As a children's decoction, in the early stages of childhood infections, such as chickenpox.
• As a dye.
• The fruits, preserved in vinegar and salt (like capers).
