Rose essential oil comes from the plant with the common name Rosa Centifolia. Rose essential oil is extracted by steam distillation of its flowers (Two tons of rose petals are needed to produce just one liter!) and has a sweet, ripe, floral aroma. It is considered the diamond of aromatherapy. Rose essential oil is used in aromatherapy as an aphrodisiac, relaxant, anti-aging, hemostatic, heart and nervous system tonic, cleansing, antidepressant, soothing, and anti-inflammatory. It is also used for asthma, bronchitis, gynecological and dermatological problems, constipation, stress, depression, nausea, headaches, stomach, and liver problems. Rose essential oil blends well with: geranium, bergamot, clary sage, jasmine, coriander, sandalwood, lavender, patchouli, cedarwood, neroli, and vetiver.
