Cocoa Butter is derived from the processing of the seeds of the Theobroma cacao plant, known in Greece as the cocoa tree. There are historical records showing that Cocoa seeds have been used since 1900 BC, while its name comes from the word cacahuatl, used by the Aztecs to describe the plant. Cocoa Butter began to be used essentially from 1828, when the Dutchman Casparus van Houten invented a hydraulic press for extracting butter from roasted seeds. Today, Cocoa Butter is used by both chocolate industries and industries producing cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. Cocoa Butter is known for its antioxidant properties as it contains Vitamin E. 

But it is even more known for its effectiveness in treating stretch marks, scars, skin discoloration, dark circles under eyes, and wrinkles, as its high content of Vitamin K (7 mcg per 28g) gives it strong 'healing' properties. 

Cocoa Butter is ideal for dry, stressed, and 'aging' skin, as it has intense moisturizing action. This is because it consists of 100% vegetable fats and does not contain proteins and carbohydrates. It softens the skin and improves its elasticity.

Cocoa Butter is 'solid' at room temperature. However, it 'melts' immediately upon contact with the skin, providing deep and effective moisturizing. When used in soap making, Cocoa Butter is an amazing product (even in a 'participation' of just 5%) that gives rich lather and 'hardens' the soap bar.
