The Carob Syrup is produced from the fruits of the carob tree and has a mild, sweet taste. It can be used as a sweetener for cakes, tahini, hot and cold beverages, yogurt, ice cream, and rice. It is an excellent sugar substitute. Carob syrup is also known as a traditional remedy for coughs and sore throats. It has a high content of calcium (almost triple that of milk, carob has 350mg per 100gr compared to milk which has 120mg per 100gr). The taste may vary depending on the variety used without changing the nutritional values. Only Cretan carobs are used for its production.
